Up-to-date information on French book publishing in the UK and the USA: new arrivals, publishing, translations, libraries in the UK with French collections.
Founded in 1999, the FSLG acts as a focus group for libraries and others concerned with the provision of Library ressources and services in French Studies in the UK, facilitates cooperation in the provision, access, promotion and preservation of French printed and electronic ressources, disseminates and exchanges information on these topics between libraries and academics and liaises with related library groups. La Médiathèque is part of the FSLG.
Provides reference access to many academic specialist libraries.
The Médiathèque is part of the Network of French Libraries of the French Embassy in the UK. To date, this network has supported the conservation of more then 300 nineteenth-century French periodicals (see Catalogue des périodiques). Other member libraries include:

Professional Training Sessions: Programme 'Profession Culture'
The French Government offers training sessions and grants throughout the year in French public libraries. La Médiathèque is part of the annual international training programmes organised by regional public libraries, the Bibliothèque nationale de France and the BPI. These sessions require a good knowledge of French.
Who: Professionals of Library and Information Sciences. Place and duration: Regional Public Libraries with some professional visits to Paris. Duration three months. Procedure: Request files directly from the Ministry of Culture. Deadline for applications is June 2010. Financing: Transport to be paid by candidate or his/her organisation. Every year the libraries of the Instituto Cervantès, the Goethe-Institut and the French and Italian Cultural Institutes organize a travelling exhibition of illustrated children's books. This year, the Portuguese Institute is also taking part (see here)

Cultural Exhibitions on Loan
Through CulturesFrance (formerly ADPF), la Médiathèque can supply exhibitions on different aspects of French culture (e.g. Arthur Rimbaud, Emile Zola, Victor Hugo, architecture, Tour de France) free of charge. Each exhibition is composed of approx. 12 large colour posters.
