When Tradition Meets Innovation
We’ll launch in winter of 2013 an exceptional and unprecedented renovation project in order to transform and redefine the different spaces of La Médiathèque.
The preservation of a unique architectural heritage and the installation of innovative tools and resources that respond to the needs and new practices of the public, are at the heart of this ambitious project. We look forward to fully adapting La Médiathèque to help achieve its mission of transmitting French language and culture to future generations.
In order to carry out the renovation, we need to raise £ 1,500,000. Whether you are a company or an indivual you can be involved and support the project.
Three Distinct Stages
Led by the architectural firm, Bisset Adams, The renovation project will take place from 2013 to 2015. It consists of three successive and distinct stages:
> the renovation of the Art Deco reading room that needs to be preserved and adapted to the wide range of cultural activities of the Institut;
> the enlargement of the children’s library, that aims to create a cosier space where children can discover and explore the world of books;
> the creation of a multimedia hub dedicated to the arts, digital resources and research.
Support the Renovation
With your help, La Médiathèque can continue to bring the best of French culture to Londoners and adapt to the 21st century.
The Institut français, with the support of its Trust, ‘Friends of the French Institute’, launched a large-scale fundraising campaign in order to collect the £1,500,000 necessary to fund the project.
This campaign addresses companies and individuals who wish to be involved in the renovation and who are committed to the promotion of French language and culture in the United Kingdom. Any donation, whatever the amount, will have a decisive impact in this unprecedented and ambitious campaign. Today you can get involved and help us save an important landmark for French culture.
By investing in the future, you can make a difference.
