Richard Attenborough's Academy Award-winning epic follows the extraordinary life of  Mahatma Gandhi, who led the nonviolent resistance movement against British Colonial rule in India during the first half of the twentieth century. Revealing Ghandi's beginnings as a young Indian lawyer to his triumph as a revolutionary, the film captures the power of a philosophy of pacifism that was to transform a nation and inspire the world. The film won an astonishing eight Academy Awards including Best Picture.
