Description
How and why have the British appropriated the French language and culture? What impact has this produced in cinema, between academics? From the 18th century to the Second World War, this overview will explore the complex relationship between the two countries including Scotland and reveals much about the establishment of the Institut français. This one-day conference open to all will include various speakers from the UK and from France: Prof. Robert Tombs (University of Cambridge), Prof. Jean-Yves Mollier (Université de Versailles), Chistophe Dupin (BFI), Prof. Michèle Cohen (Richmond American International University in London), Prof. Hilary Footitt (University of Reading) and Dr Amy Wygant (University of Glasgow).
