Using the songs and voices from both sides of the conflict, Songs for After a War takes a slyly satirical and clear-sighted look at Spanish society under Franco's dictatorship. Patino wove over 4,000 clips together for this film, carefully editing them so that the movement from clip to clip mirrors the rhythms of the musical background. An astonishing and highly original achievement.
