French Book Project

Malcolm Walsby presents this ten-year project to draw up an exhaustive list of over 50,000 texts and musical compositions published in France before 1601.

Followed by a drinks reception.

The  Project

The French Book Project is the result of ten years work in libraries worldwide. It is the first ever exhaustive catalogue of books printed before 1601 entirely or partially in French, and contains descriptions of over 50,000 works, and references to numerous previously unknown texts. It represents an enormously useful tool for all researchers, students and teachers interested in French history, literature or culture, as well as for book-lovers generally. The project will be presented at the Institut by historian Malcolm Walsby, head of the AHRC project at the University of St Andrews. The presentation will be followed by a drinks reception.
