Drawing on the eyewitness testimony of senior Party official Zdenek Mlynar and two years of journalistic research, this is a dramatised version of events from inside the Czech Presidium from the first day of the Soviet Invasion. From the early scenes in which the Presidium is held under enforced military ‘protection’, to the summoning of key protagonists to Moscow and the one-sided negotiations forcing the end of Czech independence, we follow the key protagonists in an atmosphere of moral dilemma and potential betrayal. A powerful docudrama by master of the genre Leslie Woodhead featuring acclaimed performances effectively brings to life those crucial days. Introduced by dir.
