What does 'me' really mean? This is the question vexing Hans, who arrives in Majorca to begin a new job as a caretaker, replacing another Hans who disappeared in mysterious circumstances. When he tries to befriend the locals, the refer back constantly to the old Hans; for his boss, one Hans seems to be interchangeable with any other.
