On 1 April 1939, the Spanish Civil War ended when Franco's troops entered Madrid. Fearing the bloody repression that was looming, many republicans fled the country but others couldn't or didn't want to. Las 13 rosas tells the real-life story of thirteen of those who stayed and were wrongly detained, tried and executed for their part in a rumoured plot to assassinate Franco.
