Young Learners

We understand that success at school is a major key to any student’s future. With this in mind, we have specifically designed all our Young Learners Courses to assist your child to develop both his/her language skills and confidence.

You can choose

 
For teens

– from a selection of Exam Preparation Courses
Young Learners can register by filling out and returning an enrolment form to cdl@institutfrancais.org.uk. (No placement test needed)

– to request a tailor-made Remedial Tuition to be designed to your child’s specific exam requirements: preparation for the GCSE, AS Levels, A Levels, Pre-U preparation, CNED – programme or a specific French exam: Brevet des Collèges, Baccalauréat, DELF Prim, DELF Junior.
 
 
For young children (private tuition only)

– to refresh or improve your child’s French language skills (starting as young as 6 years old).

– to instil the love for the French language to a beginner (starting as young as 6 years old).

Maximise your exam results with extra French practice.

For students taking French for GCSE, AS & A2 this school year and who want extra practice to ensure outstanding exam results.

Tutor: The teacher is specialised in OCR, EDEXCEL and AQA, and is experienced in IGCSE (for GCSE), Pre-u and WJEC (for AS and A2 level)  for both EDEXCEL and Cambridge boards.

Aims: Improve your French results by working on exam techniques with individual assistance if needed.

Teaching approach: Students will:

  • Speak exclusively in French in class
  • Study with French documents: press articles, audio clips
  • Answer questions on audio and video documents
  • Master grammar through comprehensive exercises
  • Practice writing and speaking to include their new grammatical knowledge
  • Read French articles on topics; present them orally
  • Give oral presentations followed by question and answer sessions
  • Work on exam techniques

Course materials: Past papers from all boards, French press e.g. Le Figaro and Le Monde, French radio and TV e.g. RFI, TV5, French grammar and exercise books, resources from the Institut français cultural centre.

Student’s involvement: Students will give oral presentations, engage in debates and work on their grammar at each session. They will be given written homework and will benefit from access to material from the Médiathèque to prepare the oral and research subject of their choice.
