Famous British composer Julian Anderson will introduce this concert dedicated to contemporary repertoire, with the Mercury Quartet and special guests.
The award-winning Mercury Quartet comprises four rising stars of the UK's contemporary music scene. They perform classic works of the 20th century as well as improvisations, live compositions, new commissions and unknown masterpieces.
The Mercury Quartet was formed at the Royal College of Music (RCM) from a shared passion for Messiaen's Quartet for the End of Time. They have performed across the UK and abroad, and have appeared in festivals such as The Chelsea Schubert Festival, The Vienna City of Dreams Philharmonia and Esa-Pekka Salonen Festival and Dartington International Summer School.
The Quartet's commitment to contemporary music has seen them give workshops, premiere many different pieces and perform the compositions of the students of George Benjamin and Julian Anderson.
