Will the events be in French or in English?
All the events will be in English (some films will be in French but have English subtitles).

Can I reserve a seat for myself or a friend?
The events will be filled on a first-come, first served basis. Due to the popularity of My Night with Philosophers, we ask you to refrain from reserving seats for your friends if they are not with you when you enter the room. All items left unattended to reserve seats will be taken to the box office for later collection, and the seat given to someone else. We ask you to kindly free your seat after one or two conferences to let other people have a chance to see the conferences.

If I go outside, can I come back in later?
Yes. There will be a courtyard if you need some fresh air or if you are a smoker – but please be considerate to our neighbours and keep the noise down.

Will you be selling any philosophy-related products?
Yes! There will be booksellers (Oxford University Press & Librairie La Page) and a philosophy tee-shirt stand (Tresnormale) at the Institut français. Books will be in French and in English, ranging from £5 to £25 and t-shirts will be sold for £16. Some of them will take credit card payment but please bring cash if possible.

Will there be food and drinks for sale?
Yes, food and drinks will be available for sale during the festival from the Bistrot, our on-site café. The Bistrot takes credit card payment but there is a 50p surcharge under a £10 spend. There will also be free coffee and tea throughout the night, and we will give free wine at 1am!

Where is the nearest ATM?
The nearest ATMs are at 10 Harrington Road (Natwest), at 29 Old Brompton Road (RBS) and in the South Kensington tube station.

Is the venue wheelchair accessible?
Only 2 rooms are wheelchair accessible: the cinema and the library. There is a lift on the ground floor for wheelchairs and people with limited mobility. For a list of events taking place in these two rooms, please check back tomorrow.

Is there anywhere I can store my bike or stroller?
No, we’re sorry. Please don’t bring strollers (the event is not family-friendly) and leave your bikes outside.

Will there be a cloakroom?
No, we’re sorry. We will not provide a cloakroom, and we are not responsible for items left unattended.

Does the Institut français have a parking lot?
No, there is only street parking. Why not take the bus (14, 49, 70, 74, 345, 360, 414, 430, C1) or the Tube (South Kensington, Piccadilly and District lines)?

Can I bring my pet?
No, we’re very sorry. Pets are not allowed in the Institut français.

I can’t make it unfortunately – will the lectures be available online?
Indeed! Check out Culturethèque, our online platform, for audio & video recordings of My Night with Philosophers.
