Contact

He is a writer, editor and translator, and published about fifty books into his career. His translations are mostly from Portuguese and Spanish, but occasionally from French, too; the majority of them are literary fiction. He has a particular interest in children’s books, even though he had translated few of these, he recently published the new Oxford Companion to Children’s Literature. He has won several prizes, and his latest translation has just been shortlisted for the Man Booker International Prize. He is involved with a number of organisations that promote translation, too, having in the past chaired the Translators Association and the Society of Authors and been on the board of English PEN, among others.
