A meditation on love and its transitoriness rather than a classical story, L’avventura is about Claudia and the mutual attraction she develops with Sandro, the boyfriend of her best friend Anna, when Anna disappears in a boat trip to the Aeolian Islands in the South of Italy. Adriana Berselli’s costumes for the film and the way they blend with the landscape are here key to understanding the characters, their lives and the emptiness and purposelessness around them.
