FRA | 1960 | dir. Jean Cocteau, with Jean Cocteau, Jean Marais, María Casares

Orpheus is in love with the Princess of Death, while his chauffeur, the angel Heurtebise, falls in love with the poet’s wife Eurydice. When Heurtebise takes Eurydice to the Underworld, Orpheus follows her to get her back. Probably Cocteau’s finest film, this is a perfect marriage between Greek legend and his own personal mythology.

Followed by a dicussion with Nick Walker (Rochester Kino)
