The cold autumn of 1942. The Leningrad Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet is evacuated to the former city of Molotov (Perm), interrupting the process of tense preparations for the premiere of the Gayane ballet. Half-starved ballerinas and corps de ballet members, a series of performances in hospitals, defence factories, endless rehearsals and last minute changes, everything coincides to stop the ballet to come to light. But when composer Aram Khachaturian is ordered to add another dance, 8 hours later Sabre Dance is born.
