Festivals & Series
A vibrant celebration of Arab Cinema, the biennial SAFAR Film Festival returns to London this autumn for its fourth edition.
Celebrating the enduring and symbiotic relationship of literature and film, SAFAR features at Ciné Lumière the late, Egyptian filmmaker Youssef Chahine’s The Land (1969), adapted from Abdel Rahman al-Sharqawi’s popular novel; Moroccan tour de force Nabil Ayouch’s Horses of God (2012), adapted from Mahi Binebine’s searing text; and a special screening of leading Palestinian filmmaker Annemarie Jacir’s new film Wajib.
SAFAR Film Festival is presented by The Arab British Centre, in partnership with the Institut français du Royaume-Uni and the Institute of Contemporary Arts.
