During World War II, Marie Latour (Isabelle Huppert) raises her two children in a ratty flat. First helping out a friend getting rid of an unwanted burden, she discovers she can make money performing abortions, and renting out her bedrooms to prostitutes. But under the occupation, Vichy France is on the watch and not forgiving. The second collaboration between Chabrol and Huppert among eight films made together, Une affaire de femmes is also one of their best.
