King George VI (Colin Firth), aka Bertie, reluctantly takes the throne after the abdication of his brother and despite a terrible stammer. Considered unfit to be King but desperate to prove otherwise, Bertie hires Lionel Logue (Geoffrey Rush), a speech therapist with some unorthodox techniques. The pair strike up an unlikely friendship, and the newly empowered Bertie becomes the leader his country needs in a time of war…
