Winner of the Silver Lion in Venice in 1953, and starring Simone Signoret, Thérèse Raquin is a loose adaptation of Emile Zola’s eponymous novel. Bored out of her mind with a sickly husband and a domineering mother-in-law, Thérèse comes back to life when she meets Laurent, a truck driver. When she tries to run away with her lover, things take extreme turns and fate plays cruel tricks.
