Affluent writer Marianne Winkler gets a job working as a cleaner on a ferry boat to research her new book uncovering the instability and abject poverty faced by France’s working class. Whilst keeping her true identity a secret, she faces a moral dilemma surrounding the ethics of journalism and the compassion she has for the predicament faced by her co-workers. A passion project for Juliette Binoche, the film premiered at Cannes 2021 and is based on the true story behind Florence Aubenas’s 2010 novel Le Quai de Ouistreham.
