After unexpected events befalls their mountain camp, a group of young guerilla soldiers in the remote mountains of Columbia must learn to fend for themselves whilst looking after their prized American hostage. Keeping clear of their guerrilla overlords becomes as much a priority as surviving in the jungle. Sara (Julianne Nicholson), on the other hand, becomes increasingly desperate to escape. Acclaimed by The Guardian’s Peter Bradshaw as “the best thing I have seen at Berlin this year”, Monos is a hypnotically intense blend of guerilla movie, coming-of-age tale and hostage thriller, with director Alejandro Landes announced as “a powerful new voice in cinema” (Guillermo del Toro).
