Japan, 1944. War is ending and Japan is losing. Trained for intelligence work, Hiroo Onoda is sent to Lubang, a small island in the Philippines where the Americans are about to land. His role is to wage a guerilla war until the return of the Japanese troops. Having discovered a philosophy differing to the official line, he trains a handful of soldiers under the doctrine: ‘no suicide, stay alive whatever happens, the mission is more important than anything else’. The Empire will surrender soon after, but for Onoda and his men, the war will go on for 10,000 more days. Onoda, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2021, received four nominations at the César 2022 and won the Award for Best Original Screenplay.
