FIN | 2020 | dir. Zaida Bergroth, with Alma Pöyisti, Krista Kosonen, Shanti Roney
Finland’s contender for the 2021 Academy Awards, Tove focuses on a few years in the life of multi-talented artist and writer Tove Jansson, from the wartime to the mid-1950s. The film evokes her independent and bohemian spirit, her intimate relationships, including with Theatre director Vivian Bandler and the graphic artist Tuulikki Pietilä, while also showing how her own work develops both in painting and with the creation of the immensely popular Moomin character.
The screenings on 18 & 19 July will be accompanied by an exclusive pre-recorded introduction and Q&A with director Zaida Bergroth & lead actress Alma Pöysti
