The first Ethiopian film to be screened at the Cannes Film festival, Lamb tells of an Ethiopian boy whose mother recently died and subsequently is placed by his father with relatives, together with his sheep. His host wants him to sacrifice his lamb for the upcoming religious feast, but the homesick boy decides to protect it in the hopes of returning to his home village. A beautifully observed film about a boy’s relation to his environment.
