Winner of the Grand Jury Prize in Cannes this year and a strong contender at the 2019’s BAFTA and Oscars, Capernaum tells the story of a 12 year-old boy named Zain who sues his own parents for giving him life. The circumstances that have brought him to this point take us on a journey through his poverty-stricken upbringing in Beirut. Nadine Labaki offers here a tribute to the forgotten, the unwanted and the lost that offers hope in the most unexpected of places.
