FRA | 2020 | dir.s Mai Nguyen and Charlotte Cambon, with Cécile de France
Empress Wu Zetian, social worker Leymah Gbowee, activist Naziq al-Abid, volcanologist Katia Krafft, astronaut Mae Jemison are 5 women with a common denominator: they, in the scale of their lives, acted in a way that modified their existence, and as a snowball effect reshaped times and society all together. Adapted from Pénélope Bagieu’s eponymous graphic series and narrated by actress Cécile de France, the animation short films Culottées portray over 30 bold, audacious and strong women who, from Peggy Guggenheim to Thérese Clerc, Clémentine Delait to Josephine Baker, won over prejudice and adversity and broke barriers.
On International Women’s Day, IFcinéma presents 5 episodes available 24 hours for free and followed by short interviews with filmmakers Mai Nguyen and Charlotte Cambon.
