Eliane Radigue is a pioneering composer, first an assistant to Pierre Henry before, at the dawn of the 70s, she began creating extraordinary, gradually unfolding pieces using synthesisers and magnetic tape. As part of this year’s interdisciplinary Mode festival, curated by electronic figurehead Laurel Halo, this documentary is being screened in the UK for the first time and focuses on her work in 2011 with a group of musicians as they prepare for a performance in London.
The film will be followed by a discussion with musicians who will be performing Radigue’s piece Occam Océan the following day for Mode at St Michael and All Angels Church in Clapton. Having collaborated closely with Radigue they are well-placed to provide valuable insights into her working practices.
