And the Birds Rained Down
in French with EN subs
CAN | 2019 | dir. Louise Archambault with Andrée Lachapelle, Gilbert Sicotte, Rémy Girard, Kenneth Welsh
Tom (Rémy Girard), Charlie (Gilbert Sicotte) and Ted (Kenneth Welsh) live a reclusive lifestyle withdrawn from society. Hidden away in the countryside of Québec the three men reside in their cabins and pass the time selling weed to the locals. Yet their tranquil, wholesome existence is soon upended by the arrival of two women. Gertrude, who, merely wishes to experience the peace and quiet of the countryside afters years of being unjustly interned and photographer-researcher Ange-Aimee, who has come looking for survivors of a catastrophic blaze that happened decades ago. As the men agree to accommodate the two women, tentative and illuminating relationships begin to blossom.
A poignant reflection on modernity, Il pleuvait des oiseaux pays tribute to those brave enough to live life on ones own terms.
