Lu is a disruptive, rebellious teenage mother living with her daughter Nina in a women’s refuge run by a group of nuns in Buenos Aires. The arrival of Paola, a sympathetic Italian nun, who takes a shine to Nina, coincides with Lu going missing. What ensues is a sensitively directed and ultimately heart-breaking portrait of life in a refuge, providing a nuanced depiction of motherhood and religion that is both disarmingly funny and deeply moving.
Preceded by the short film Fine Dust (Polvere Sottile, by Alessandra Boatto, Gloria Cianci, Sofia Zanonato, 2018, 7 min.)
