Speak Up

Each year at the University of Saint-Denis in the suburbs of Paris, the “Eloquentia” competition for Best Orator takes place. Any student can participate and prepare with the help of professionals, who teach them the tricks and trades of public speaking. Over the weeks, they learn the subtle inner workings of rhetoric and to reveal themselves. Stéphane de Freitas and Ladj Ly’s eloquent documentary was nominated for the Best Documentary César Award 2018.

The screening will be followed by a Q&A with lawyer Bertrand Perier as part of Lost in Frenchlation
