Teacher’s Trail

The Teacher’s Trail is the Institut français du Royaume-Uni’s continuing professional development programme for teachers of French in the United-Kingdom. This programme aims at supporting future teachers, newly qualified and qualified teachers of French throughout their teaching career.

Every year, training opportunities are offered online and face to face all over the country.
 

Primary French Project workshops – Leeds

Date: Saturday 18 June 2022, 10:00 – 13:00
Location: Novotel Leeds Centre, 4 Whitehall Quay, LS1 4HR, Leeds
Provider: Catherine Cheater, leading author and trainer in Modern Languages at Primary / Elementary level
Language used during the workshop: English
Eligibility: language coordinators and practitioners who teach/ would like to teach French in key stage 2
Content: Using the free French teaching materials from the Institut français, this session will focus on offering support and advice to Language Coordinators or other practitioners who teach, or would like to start teaching French in key stage 2, including a focus on the following:

  • Writing an action plan and a languages policy
  • Delivery – who will do the teaching?
  • What needs to be taught?
  • How can the PFP materials support the teaching of French in my school?

Fares: training fees are covered by the Institut français in the UK

French Summer School for Primary Teachers

Course dates: Monday 8 to Friday 12 August 2022
Dates of the stay: Saturday 6 to Friday 12 August 2022 (6 nights)
Location: Rouen, France
Provider: Alliance française de Normandie
Language used during the workshop: French (beginner level)
Eligibility: non-specialist primary teachers of French in the UK
Content: This one-week training is made for primary teachers who would like to develop their confidence in French. Selected participants will be hosted by a French host-family and will follow a 20h French course accordingly to their level.
Fares: training fees and housing (half board at a local host family) are covered by the Institut français in the UK. Selected teachers will have to arrange their journey to and from the training location.

Enseigner le français des affaires

Course dates: Monday 20 to Friday 24 June 2022, 9h – 16h
Location: Aston University, Burmingham
Provider: Le français des affaires, Chambre de Commerce et d’Industrie Paris Ile-de-France
Language used during the workshop: French
Eligibility: professors, lectures and teaching fellows
Content: Cette formation pratique permettra d’accompagner les enseignants dans l’élaboration d’un cours de français des affaires. Elle permettre de distinguer les spécificités du FLE (Français Langue Etrangère) et FOS (Français sur Objectifs Spécifiques), de mettre en œuvre le FOS, de concevoir un cadre d’enseignement pour un cours de français des affaires, de concevoir des activités pédagogiques à partir de documents authentiques et de comprendre comment évaluer les étudiants en français des affaires.
Fares: training fees will be covered by the Institut français in the UK, selected candidates will have to pay £100 to secure their participation to the workshop. Full attendance is expected from the participants.
