Tue 19 - Sun 31 May

World Day for Cultural Diversity

All year-long the Institut français is proud to promote not only French artists but also cultural diversity, plural perspectives, views and identities for a better understanding of each other and a broader comprehension of the world.

On the occasion of World Day for Cultural Diversity, Dialogue and Development celebrated on 21 May, we highlight exclusive content and initiatives to show the world’s true colours. Starting with Yann Arthus-Bertrand’s great latest film, Human, a collection of real-life accounts from 2,000 women and men in 60 countries. Asking each of them what makes us human, he has put together provoking, immersive and poignant stories: a lockdown-must-see.

Africa has a central place at this year’s Beyond Words online Festival of literature with exclusive interviews to be played and replayed or still to be unveiled, with authors such as Scholastique Mukasonga, Fiston Mwanza Mujila or Nii Ayikwei Parkes, to name but a few.

Other voices to be heard include film director Mahamat Saleh Haroun, music composer Errollyn Wallen, philosopher Achille Mbembe or singer Souad Massi. Have a look at the below highlights.
