The Best of Contemporary Francophone Literature

Mois de la Francophonie 2021

French language is spoken in 29 countries worldwide and lives side by side with other official languages such as Flemish in Belgium, Arabic in Egypt and Wolof in Senegal. These multicultural panoramas have created a singular canon of literature which often explores heritage, war and exile but also legends, love and friendship.

From French-Moroccan author Leïla Slimani to French-Senegalese writer Fatou Diome, from the Cameroonian Léonora Miano to the Lebanese Charif Majdalani, a mosaic of Francophone voices can be heard and read in our selection of books and podcasts on Culturethèque.
