World Day for Cultural Diversity

After Mexico City 1975 and Copenhagen 1980, the United Nations chose Kenya for the 3rd World Conference on Women. Parallel to the official Conference of States is held in July 1985 the Forum of Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO), in which 12,000 women participated. For ten days, on the University campus, they met to discuss general and feminist political issues: peace, development, apartheid, Islam, lesbianism, violence and sexual mutilation, Israel/Palestine, etc.

As part of Staying Home, Staying Feminist in collaboration with the Simone de Beauvoir Audiovisual Centre.

With five archival documentaries including The Women’s Conference of Nairobi 85 featuring Angela Davis and many others, along with TËNK’s rolling line-up of hand-picked documentaries, delve into a stream of non-fiction today and enjoy the first month free.
