Comic Strip Contest

BD2020: The Year of Comics

To celebrate the beloved 9th art, the Bibliotheque Quentin Blake is running a comic strip contest with French comic books (including Tom-Tom et Nana by Evelyne Reberg and Bernadette Després) as prizes for the winners!

On your pencils (digital or not), ready, set, go!

Terms and Conditions

The contest is open to kids from 6 to 12 years old who are members of the Institut francais du Royaume-Uni (an adult can be the one who owns the membership).

The submission must be of a 4 cases-comic strip, be an original piece of artwork and be written in French.

Only one submission by participants is allowed.

Participants can use the app BDnF La Fabrique à BD, but it’s not mandatory.

Submissions must be sent to library@institutfrancais.org.uk with “Comic contest” in the subject line before 24 May and be in .jpg format. The email must include the participant’s name, their date of birth and the membership number they’re linked to.

Valid submissions will then be posted on the Facebook page of Culturetheque.

Three winners will be selected based on two scores:

  • An evaluation by the librarians of the Institut francais for the originality of the story and the graphic quality, on a score up to 20 points.

  • The number of likes received on the submissions on Facebook, until the 1 June at 11pm. 20 points will be given to the most liked submission, and other submissions’ scores will be evaluated depending on this.

The three submissions with the highest scores will be selected as the winners.
