World Music Day

Music touches us beyond the mere experience of listening; in the realm of film for instance, it serves essential functions, in story-telling and the experience of watching.

Let’s thus mark the Fête de la musique (21 June) with two cinematographic tours de force: Bruno Dumont’s new film Joan of Arc, winner of the Prix Louis-Delluc, features an original score from the late artist Christophe and celebrates freedom in reimagining the story of the French heroine. With Rubika Shah’s multi-awarded and timely documentary White Riot, discover the pivotal & progressive actions of the 70s movement Rock Against Racism.

To conclude World Music Day on a thrilling note, find out about the grand winners of the UK-wide French Pop Video Competition school contest on 23 June! The awards ceremony will follow a live-streamed concert and Q&A with singer-songwriter Ladylike Lily, known for her ethereal melodies and delicate pop arrangements, paired with delightful videos.
