Exploring a New Dimension
The National Gallery, in association with the Institut français, presents an international academic conference to coincide with the The Credit Suisse Exhibition, Monet & Architecture at The National Gallery.
Day one opens with a lecture by André Dombrowski (University of Pennsylvania) on the representation of the “instant” in Monet’s depictions of architecture and modern infrastructure. Richard Thomson, renowned expert on impressionism, guest Curator of the exhibition at The National Gallery and Watson Gordon Professor of Fine Art at the University of Edinburgh, will introduce the talk. Day two will explore the theme of the exhibition further enhancing or challenging its premises.
