Online conversation with Jeremy Allen and David McKenna
To this day the multifaceted French musician & singer-songwriter Serge Gainsbourg remains an icon of French chanson and pop culture. Often provocative, scandalous at times, he marked the French pantheon of music with hits such as Je t’aime moi non plus with the no-less iconic Jane Birkin, and Bonnie and Clyde to name but a few, and many artists from the international scene claim his influence from Pulp to Massive Attack, Air to Iggy Pop.
Upon the publication of Relax Baby Be Cool by journalist Jeremy Allen and coinciding with the 30th anniversary of the death of Serge Gainsbourg, the author will be in conversation with French music expert David McKenna on the challenges of writing about a French icon and the “artistry and audacity” of the man behind the myth.
