Since the founding agreement, signed in 1905 between France and the United Kingdom, thousands of young people have travelled
between the two countries with the same goals: helping students to improve their language skills, and developing cultural awareness and mutual understanding.
Attended by H.E. Hélène Duchêne, Ambassador of France and Faye Taylor, Deputy Director for International Strategy & Partnerships at the Department for Education, the evening was the occasion for a roundtable with experts and alumni of the Language Assistant Programme (LAP).
Entitled The Language Assistant Programme: a token of youth mobility, the roundtable gathered:
- Kate Ewart-Biggs, Deputy Chief Executive of the British Council
- Mathieu Ausseil, Acting Chief Executive of France Education International
- Felicity Lott, Soprano and LAP alumna
The conversation was chaired by Bernardette Holmes, director of the National Consortium for Languages Education and LAP alumna.
