Fête de la musique

Sat 21 June

The Fête de la Musique (Music Day) is an annual celebration of music taking place on the day of the summer solstice every year in France. From young musicians to emerging and acclaimed artists it features free music concerts.

The French Institute brings this joyful event to London and invites you to a vibrant and festive evening, under the banner of discovery, talent and conviviality!

The Perikats, a group of passionate young students of the Lycée Français Charles de Gaulle, will kick off the evening playing a repertoire of rock music in the Institute’s foyer. Their energy and spontaneity will set the tone for a festive evening in a warm atmosphere.

George Ka embodies a new generation of francophone artists, at the crossroads between slam, chanson, folk and pop. Both incisive and delicate, her music touches on topics of identity and emancipation with a rare sincerity. Accompanied by her musicians, she will take over the library for an electric concert rhythmed by powerful words.

The evening will end on a high with the Franco-British duo Sunana who will change the library into a dancefloor, with a festive and rhythmic electro set. Inspired by their diverse roots, the duo mixes house, Latin percussions and afrobeats to create catchy tracks.

An irresistible invitation to rock the dance floor until (almost) midnight to celebrate music in all its forms!

About the artists

George Ka
