Created in 1999 by the French Ministry of Culture, the Printemps des Poètes (Poetry Spring) is an event held annually in the month of March and is destined to honour the diversity of French poetry.

The month of March symbolises both the arrival of spring and a flourishing of poetic publications as well as increasing media attention for poets. The French Institute would like to extend this celebration beyond borders and share the beauty of French poetry with you.

From 9 to the 31 March, four “poem trees” will be put on display throughout the Institute’s premises with an array of French poems hanging from their branches. As the Month of March unfolds, we hope these trees will gradually flower with poetry thanks to our vibrant community.

So, on your next visit to the Institute, whether you are stopping by the library or enjoying a movie, don’t hesitate to read a poem and take part in the event!

For more poetry, don’t hesitate to browse the alleys of the library to find our collection of poems, and look at an exhibition of old editions.
