She graced our stage on many occasions and her voice still resonates in our walls.
A wonderful ambassador of the French language and repertoire, she was Chevalière of the Légion d’Honneur and Officier of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.
We were delighted to welcome her last year for the 120th anniversary of the Language Assistant Programme. On this occasion, she sung the praises of the Language Assistant programme, and shared the tremendous influence France had in her becoming the acclaimed soprano that she was.
She also paid tribute to the genius of French composer Georges Auric in a concert with pianist Jason Carr, preceding a special screening of Jean Cocteau’s The Blood of a Poet in April 2024.
With her inimitable chic, Dame Felicity Lott enchanted the audience in concert Parlez-moi d’amour in 2012, featuring timeless classics by Offenbach and a hint of French charm with pieces from the repertoire of singers Benabar, Mireille, and more.
We also had the privilege of welcoming her in 2011 and hearing about her love for Victor Hugo as part of our series French Passions.
Called by Le Monde “la plus francophone des cantatrices britanniques”, she will be sorely missed.
