Co-writer and director Mar Coll has adapted Basque writer Katixa Agirre’s novel Amek ez dute about Maria, a promising young writer and new mother struggling to adjust to motherhood and assuming her identity as a writer and the anxiety and frustration this is bringing to her life. When she stumbles upon the chilling headline of a French woman that drowned her 10-month-old twins in the bathtub, her obsession will take her in a quest to try to understand the gruesome act. Mar Coll’s film is skillfully crafted, and Weissmahr powerful performance has been widely acknowledged.
