Isabelle Adjani’s Journey through Cinema

After stealing incriminating documents from a mob boss, Fred takes refuge in the fascinating and chaotic labyrinth of the Paris metro, with its many eclectic characters living on the edge of society. A relentless manhunt ensues, during which strange bonds develop across blackmails between the thief and Héléna, the mob boss’s wife.

 

Shot in 35mm mostly inside the metro system, Subway was nominated for a BAFTA (Best Foreign Language film) as well as for five César awards, including Best Actress for Isabelle Adjani. Christophe Lambert won the César for his performance.
