On 14 December 2023, Karen Reilly Steed, wife of Denis Saurat’s grandson, the late Nicholas Steed, donated a rare collection of publications by the former director of the Institut français du Royaume-Uni.
An academic and specialist in the poetry of William Blake, Denis Saurat served as the director of the Institut français in London from 1924 to 1945.
A collection of sixteen carefully bound volumes was placed in the Rare Books and Archives Reserve of La Médiathèque, already holding a heritage collection of original documents relating to the life and work of Denis Saurat.
The books will be added to La Médiathèque’s catalogue and made available to the readers and researchers interested in the rich and multifaceted work of Denis Saurat.
