Celebrated author Deborah Levy launches her new book The Position of Spoons alongside acclaimed singer songwriter Barbara Carlotti, accompanied by musician Pierre III. 

Join twice Booker-shortlisted author Deborah Levy to celebrate the UK publication of her collection of essays, The Position of Spoons; an intimate collection of essays which explores, among other topics, the writers that have shaped her life and work from Marguerite Duras to Colette, Lee Miller to Francesca Woodman. Joining Deborah for this very special evening of words and music is renowned French singer-songwriter Barbara Carlotti accompanied by guitarist Pierre Le Roux, known as Pierre III.

Deborah Levy

Deborah Levy is the author of several novels including August Blue, Hot Milk and Swimming Home, alongside a formally innovative, critically acclaimed 'living autobiography' trilogy: Things I Don't Want to Know, The Cost of Living and Real Estate. She has been shortlisted twice each for the Goldsmiths Prize and Booker Prize and won the Prix Femina Etranger. She has also written for The Royal Shakespeare Company and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature.

 

Barbara Carlotti

Barbara Carlotti is a French musician, composer, and performer whose music draws inspiration from jazz and folk rock. Alongside her six albums, she has collaborated on several exhibitions such as at the Albert-Chanot Contemporary Art Center or the Centre Pompidou. In 2009, she created a radio workshop with France Culture on the theme of the English dandy. In 2014, she hosted the show Cosmic Fantaisie on France Inter. Barbara Carlotti is a multifaceted artist: she incorporates dance into her performances, has directed her first short film, Quatorze Ans, in 2019, and published in 2023, L’Art et la manière, a collection of erotic short stories.


Pierre III

Pierre III is Pierre Leroux’s new avatar. He is a French musician and producer. He has recently worked with Myd, Empire of the Sun or Christine and the Queens, remixed Metronomy, LA Priest or Barbagallo (Tame Impala), been remixed by Jerge (PPJ). During the 2020 lockdowns, he released Cluster, a spontaneous and experimental mixtape, followed by Cluster II and the EP Menthol in 2021, leading up to his first solo album, Discothèque, in 2023.
