The Institut français du Royaume-Uni is proud to highlight the participation of acclaimed French authors Hélène Giannecchini and Edouard Louis at the 2026 Edinburgh International Book Festival, held this summer from 15 to 30 August. A yearly celebration of international literature since 1983, the EIBF brings together illustrious and burgeoning authors, thinkers, and artists from around the world to engage with visitors through on-stage conversations, creative masterclasses, and think tanks.

On 21 August, writer Édouard Louis presents his two poignant novels exposing poverty, shame, and family violence endured by his mother and brother. Chaired by Adam Biles, this event explores escape, self-reinvention, and breaking inherited cycles through a mix of emotional intensity and sociological sharpness.
