Magnetic is a unique collaboration conceived by the Institut français du Royaume-Uni and the four UK arts funding agencies, joined by the British Council, the Institut français, French Ministry of Culture and French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs. Magnetic is produced under the umbrella of Fluxus Arts Projects, a charity founded and run by the Institut and supported by French and UK public partners and private donors.
To strengthen relations between art institutions across the Channel, Magnetic 4 is partnered with ten prominent art venues in France and the UK. The artists based in a French region have applied for a residency in a UK nation, and vice versa. They were selected by a jury of art experts.
The 10 selected artists are:
- Raheel Kahn – Bétonsalon (Paris)
- Omar Castillo Alfaro – Gasworks (London)
- Freya Dooley – Frac Bretagne & Galerie du Dourven
- Salomé Ingelbrecht – Aberystwyth Arts Centre (Wales)
- Dorothy Hunter – Frac Grand Large & ESA Dunkerque (Hauts-de-France)
- Marie Lelouche – Flax Art Studios (Belfast, Northern Ireland)
- Aniela Piasecka – Villa Arson (Nice)
- Mathilde Dewavrin – Cove Park (Ecosse)
- Tom Kemp – Capc (Bordeaux, Nouvelle-Aquitaine)
- Maeva Totolehibe – Wysing Arts Centre (Angleterre)
