Organised by the French Institute in London, the South Ken Kids Festival is back for its 27th edition from 18 to 24 November.

 

Under the patronage of Quentin Blake, the Festival promotes the best of children’s literature from both sides of the Channel and will have a special focus on Young Adult Literature this year.

 

The festival will welcome Joseph Coelho, Timothée de Fombelle, Jean-Luc Fromental, Joanne Harris, Joëlle Jolivet, Patrice Lawrence, Bridget Marzo, Marie-Aude Murail, Amandine Piu, Beatrice Rodriguez, Chloe Savage, Axel Scheffler, Posy Simmonds and more.

 

They will take part in a great range of activities with schools and in public events held at the Institutfrançais, from workshops, talks, live drawing and storytelling, to films, concerts and book signings.

 

The jury of the first-ever edition of the Entente littéraire Prize will present this year’s shortlist on Saturday 23rd November. Led by president Joanne Harris, Children’s Laureate Joseph Coelho will converse with Patrice Lawrence, Timothée de Fombelle and Marie-Aude Murail about the challenges of judging a literary prize. These four celebrated authors will also take part in individual writing and storytelling workshops.

 

The history of comic books and graphic novels will be explored with comic book authors and illustrators Posy Simmonds, Jean-Luc Fromental and Joëlle Jolivet on Friday 22nd November.

 

Public events highlights include a live drawing duo performance with Axel Scheffler and Joëlle Jolivet and the amazing Impro!, a giant multi-handed drawing and music jam on Saturday 23 November. Paddington Bear will also make an appearance at his first concert with a musical trio and interactive storytelling.
